Boat Docks

Authorized dealer for: HydroHoist Boat Lifts, Aluma-Dock, and Hendren Plastics

Some of Our Boat docks in Knoxville are built with up to 70% recycled aluminum! That’s because aluminum is one of the best materials on earth for reuse and recycling. The molecules retain their properties, time and time again so that recycled aluminum is essentially the exact same as new aluminum.
However, recycled aluminum only requires 5% of the energy to process, as compared to mining aluminum from the crust of the Earth in the form of bauxite. Due to a large amount of electricity required to produce aluminum from bauxite ore, pure aluminum is a sustainable material aluminum is often referred to as a solid battery. That makes sense when you look at aluminum-air batteries, which have 8 times the energy storage density of lithium-ion. It also helps that aluminum is the most abundant metal in the earth’s crust, and the third most abundant element. As consumers, we benefit from aluminum’s infinite cycling ability and create a truly sustainable material.

Unfortunately, steel and wood undergo irreversible degradation, resulting in lost and unrecoverable materials. Rust (iron oxide) forms on all steel and creates obtrusive rust stains. While steel can be recycled well, the iron oxide is lost to the environment and cannot be recovered. Wood degrades from UV damage, water damage, bug damage…you name it.
The energy required to harvest more wood, the transportation costs and land use requirements make wood aluminum is a sustainable material poor choice for green dock building. Wood’s life can be extended, but only through the cultivation of rare tropical hardwoods or through the use of aggressive and toxic preservatives. Over time, these preservatives leach out into the surrounding environment, essentially poisoning the local ecosystem.

In addition to using a high percentage of recycled aluminum, East Tennessee Propeller also will reuse and recycle all paper, wood, plastics and various metals during the production and manufacturing of our docks. Recycling and green building go hand in hand with efficiency and common sense. By reducing the amount of waste we generate, we reduce local landfill costs and burdens. Please consider the environment when choosing your building materials.

System Frame Construction Frame

  • Frame perimeter made exclusively with a 9.5″ x 3.5″ proprietary channel. Heavier and stronger in a twist, span, and cantilever than the competitors. Designed for a fully interlocked dock system.
  • Decking attaches to 2″ x 1/8″ square tubing centers. The X9 system can accommodate any center to center decking requirements, allowing for angled deck board installations of any deck material.
  • All frames, anchoring and heavy duty accessories bolted through flanges with heavy duty washers using high strength stainless steel hardware. This bolting pattern moves the stress out of the web and into the flange itself, preventing the problem of web separation common with competitors’ bolting patterns.
  • All corners reinforced with 5.25″ channel gussets, MIG welded completely inside and TIG welded on the exterior for a strong connection with a clean and uniform appearance. This mitered corner creates a single outside seam, eliminating the multiple seams created when using a cast or extruded corner. This helps the dock blend in better, especially on larger installations where multiple frames are the only option.
  • All roof sockets are interlocked into the 9.5″ channel, creating a super strong pocket that is completely integrated into the frame, maximizing the strength of the roof and dock.

Float Attachment

  • Aluminum Frame Float Attachment with J Bolt on our Knoxville boat docks
  • Standard through-bolted connection using high-quality stainless steel proprietary J bolts or through bolts.
  • Stainless steel ultra duty washers, external tooth lock washers, and nylon insert lock nut standard.
  • J bolts allow the float to be installed/removed without access to the “head” of the bolt.
  • One of the only J bolts on the market, and possibly the only in stainless steel, we have the best float attachment in the industry.

  • Our roof and pole system is above and beyond the industry standard. All of boat dock roof poles are 4″ octagonal fluted poles and slide into structural pockets in both the dock frame and roof trusses.
  • Both roof and frame pockets are structurally integrated into the main bands and trusses using heavy wall interlocking welded connections.
  • Polypropylene sleeves inside the structural interlocking pockets encapsulate and isolate every pole on all sides, preventing metal on metal contact noise.
  • All roof poles through bolted with stainless steel bolts and structural rivets, going above and beyond industry standards.
